another successful surgery

HyCalypso KFX went through another successful surgery. Because he was growing so fast and his tendons could not keep up, he had inferior and superior check ligament surgery on both of his front legs. He also has shoes on his front feet with slight extensions to help him land properly and gently stretch to get his heels down. He is on a three week rotation with our farrier, along with our two foals. He is handling the stall rest well. He's getting lots of carrots and he loves them!

We've had a growth spurt!!!
UPDATE: 6/11/26
HyCalypso had a major growth spurt just after his surgery on 9/29/25. The surgery went well and he no longer has an OCD. He is nearly 17hh now and weighing in at 1175 lbs. His tendons are currently having a hard time keeping up with his rapid growth. We are working closely with our vet, farrier and an equine nutritionist to help him in every way we can to keep him happy and comfortable. X-rays show no arthritis, ringbone nor rotation. He still has a wonderful attitude and enjoys his days in the paddock with his new friend, Chloe. She doesn't chase him around like his big brother Hatteras.

9/18/25 HyCalypso KFX currently stands at 15.3 hh and 1/4" tall and weighs in at 1010 lbs. He will be having OCD surgery on 9/29/25 and we will get a candid video of him after he heals.
