We received this lovely photo of Gayle Udall riding HPMC Rufina OBX at Cheyenne June 2019. Gayle says "Here is leg yield in First Level Test 3 where she got a 69.3". Congratulations Gayle and Rufina...or Roo as Gayle calls her!!!! She then said that they won with a 70%!!! WooHoo!!!!! Also, earlier this year in April, Roo got a blue ribbon on her 6th birthday with a 70.6 at First Level Test 3. We could not be any happier for the two of them!!!
4/20/17 Update on HPMC Rufina OBX: Rufina was shown at her first schooling dressage show. She was shown at Training Level Test 1 and she won with a 75.4 and a 10 on enter at X, Halt salute!!! Way to go Rufina and Gayle!!! Thanks for letting us know of your accomplishments!! We are so proud of you!
Thank you to Kimberly Hale Photography for taking such a lovely photo of the harmony between Gayle and Rufina!
We were informed that Rufina OBX had the second top score in the nation on her Mare Performance Test! She was beat by 0.03 points!! Also, she was a 2016 Hartwig Candidate by having the third highest combined score in the nation from her Mare Performance Test and her Mare Inspection. We are so very proud of Rufina!!!
We would like to congratulate Gayle Udall of Colorado for her purchase of Rufina OBX!! We hope you have many happy years together! Thank you for making a wonderful home for our girl!

rufina OBX
Rufina OBX is a 2013 chestnut Hanoverian mare bred by Don and Dee Kapper at Outerbanks Farms. Rufina is sired by Harmony's Rousseau (Ferro/) and out of SPS Brimming (Banter / PB Adroit / Akzent I). She is a very nice 'blend' of her sire and dam with an excellent length of neck and over-all balance. All three gaits show excellent elasticity and reach with exceptional use of her hind legs. She has her 'USEF Lifetime Horse Recording'.
Rufina has a very forward personality. She has been easy to work around and enjoys having a job. Rufina has been started under saddle, and has had over three months of training with Meg Williams of Oakwood Farms. She will be doing her Mare Performance Test in September, we hope, to achieve Elite Mare Candidate status. UPDATE: RUFINA OBX HAS ACHIEVED HANOVERIAN PREMIUM MARE CANDIDATE STATUS!
Rufina OBX's Sire:
Rousseau's remarkable success as a stallion is exemplified by the fact that out of his first four foal crops in the Netherlands, Rousseau produced three consecutive Champions of the KWPN Stallion Licensing: Wamberto (2006), Zagreb (aka Blue Hors Zack) (2007), and Ajong (aka Ampere) (2008). From his first foal crops in Germany, Rousseau has four licensed sons: Fiorano name to the Premium Ring of the 2008 VhW licensing, Fuerst Rousseau now standing at Celle, a Rousseau-Lauries Crusader licensed in the late 2008 Hanoverian korung and Rousseau Noir, licensed by the GOV. Three of Rousseau's sons won their stallion performance tests with record-breaking results, Wamberto, Fiorano, and Ampere! With National Champion mares in the Netherlands and top foals around the world, we appreciate the extent of his sovereign influence. A top class stallion who consistenly produces top class offspring.
Rufina OBX's half-sisters are Elite Mares and Elite Eligible Mares:
1. EM Royal Princess OBX, by ES Royal Prince, earned her Elite Mare Status at Hilltop Farm and then produced the 'Top Foal of the Day' at the American Hanoverian Society's Foal Inspection at High Point Hanoverians, and the 2011 HD Breeder Sweepstakes Awared, presented at Dressage at Devon. She is owned by Marty and Wendy Costello, Kent Island Sporthorses, on the eastern shore of Maryland.
2. EM Wowie, an Elite Hanoverian Mare owned by Virginia Tech and is part of their prestigious broodmare band.
3. EE Consuela, by Contucci, has joined her half-sister EM Wowie in Virginia Tech's broodmare band. Consuela was the Top Mare at the American Hanoverian Mare Inspection.
4. EE Rodanthe OBX, by ES Royal Prince, owned by Meg Williams of Oakwood Farms, IN, was one of the top mares in the US at her 2011 AHS Mare Inspection, and is now an Elite Eligible mare. She had an exceptional Hanoverian filly by Dacaprio, who is now owned by Janeen Lingowski-Grava of Top Line Stables at Walden, Aurora, OH.
5. EE Rhea OBX, a full sister to Rufina, became an Elite Mare Candidate at last year's inspection. She is now in foal, to deliver in 2017.
Rufina OBX's brother, Roanoke OBX (Rousseau x Brimming), was purchased by Heather Blitz, an internationally known dressage trainer from Wellington, FL, and currently has him in dressage training.
